Who We Are

Located in the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley along the I-81 corridor, Shenandoah County Public Schools has over 1,000 teaching and support staff who serve more than 5,600 students (PK-12) in ten schools: three elementary, three middle, three high, and one career and technical school.

Shenandoah County Public Schools also hosts the Massanutten Regional Governor’s School, which serves students from Shenandoah, Page, and Rockingham Counties and the City of Harrisonburg.

    All-County Band Puts On Dazzling Performance

    Nearly 120 of our top middle school and high school musicians put on an amazing show at the All-County Band concert held at Strasburg High School Saturday evening!

    Under the direction of guest conductors Greg Thomas, a member of the JMU music education department and the director of the JMU Jazz Band, and Matthew Schucker, a 20-year band director at Maury River Middle School in Lexington and the 2023 VBODA District V Educator of the Year, our talented students from across the school division performed a variety of songs in front of a packed gym

    Our All-County Band Concert is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, at Strasburg High School. This is a great opportunity to see our talented musicians across the division perform together.     The Central High School Outfitters Food Pantry will be holding a Community Open House from 3:20 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 12. The Central Outfitters assists students and community members in need thanks to generous donations from local businesses, churches, community organizations, and individuals. The Food Pantry typically has breakfast items, canned fruits and vegetables, fresh produce, pasta and dry goods, and more.     The next Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) meeting of the school year is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27. This meeting is open to the public and its purpose is to advise the division on the needs of students with disabilities, provide input on special education policies and practices, and help interpret special education plans to the community. The meeting will be held in the Shenandoah County School Board Office Training Room on the second floor at 600 N. Main Street in Woodstock. Our Transportation Department will be holding a Bus Driver Training course from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 26-30 in the Shenandoah County Board Room at 600 N Main Street in Woodstock.     SHS Football, FFA Chapters Recognized at School Board Meeting

    At our January Shenandoah County School Board meeting Thursday evening, we recognized the Strasburg High School football team for winning their first state championships.

    Additionally, representatives from our high school and middle school FFA chapters were on hand to receive donations from the Keystone National Indoor Truck and Tractor Pull. The organization generously donated $1,500 each to the Strasburg High School, Central High School and Stonewall Jackson High School FFA chapters, and $900 each to the Signal Knob Middle School, Peter Muhlenberg Middle School and North Fork Middle School FFA chapters.

    MRGS Junior Perform in Poetry Out Loud Competition

    Five of our Massanutten Regional Governor's School juniors performed for the Poetry Out Loud competition. Stonewall Jackson High School's Vivian Van Horn finished first and Central High School's Saran Diane finished second. Vivian & Saran will compete virtually in the semifinals of the competition in February. Congrats everyone who competed and for stepping out of their comfort zone and trying something new!

    Our Transportation Department will be holding a Bus Driver Training course from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 26-30 in the Shenandoah County Board Room at 600 N Main Street in Woodstock.     Strasburg's Williams named Football Co-Offensive Player of the Year

    Congratulations to Strasburg junior Quincy Williams on being named the Northern Virginia Daily 2025 Football Co-Offensive Player of the Year! Williams ran for 2,022 yards and 27 touchdowns on just 156 carries — 13.0 yards per carry — this season and made some of the biggest plays of the game in a 49-27 victory over Glenvar to secure Strasburg’s first-ever football state title.

    Strasburg's Conrad Named Football Defensive Player of the Year

    Congratulations to Strasburg senior Hutson Conrad on being named the Northern Virginia Daily 2025 Football Defensive Player of the Year! Fully healthy all season, the 6-foot-4, 250-pound offensive/defensive lineman finished the season with 66 tackles, two sacks, one fumble recovery for a touchdown and 20 tackles for loss as he helped the Rams win the Class 2 state title.

    Central's Witherow Named Volleyball Player of the Year

    Congratulations to Central High School senior Hadley Witherow on being named the Northern Virginia Daily 2025 Volleyball Player of the Year.

    Witherow finished off her stellar high school volleyball career with her best season yet, posting an area-best 278 kills, a team-best 44 aces and a team-best 170 digs. She also finished second all-time in school history in kills for the Falcons.

    Cell Phone Free Education

    Following approval of a new policy by the Shenandoah County School Board, SCPS schools began instituting a bell-to-bell policy that requires all students to put away their cell phones and personal electronic communication devices, including airpods and smart watches, for the entirety of the school day.     Edulog Parent Portal App Info for Bus Riders

    The Edulog Parent Portal app is free to parents, caregivers, and students. It will show you what time the bus will be at your stop and the current GPS location of the bus. Second graders at W. W. Robinson Elementary got a special treat on Friday when they got to take part in a group Roving Chef with our Food Services staff and SFE! After enjoying their lunch and playing a couple holiday-themed games, students followed the directions on their recipe cards and put together delicious Cookie Crumble Cups, which they happily sampled once they were finished.

The Strasburg High School choir, comprised of students in On a Side Note and the Singing Rams, kicked off the annual Music Winter Extravaganza. Singing a variety of holiday and winter-themed hits, like "Jingle Bell Rock," "Run Rudolph Run," and "Carol of the Bells" under the direction of Choir Director Kylene Robinson, they delivered a fantastic performance in front of a packed gym.

Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office SRO R.A. Racey Jr. and Sheriff Tim Carter celebrated all of the Sandy Hook Elementary 5th graders for completing the 10-week course, which included educational talks, role play scenarios and more to help students build the skills to be able to say no not just to drugs, but also bullying and other negative situations, and to help them see the importance of being responsible students, classmates and community members.
